Christmas 2011

Dec 1  The fun begins
When we got home today, the elves were here.  They found the advent calendars for the kids and had them out in the living room.  All the elves were here with their sleeping bags and snowflakes.  The kids had to take their lunch today because they didn't want what was served at school.  When we got up this morning, the elves had packed their lunch boxes and they had gone back to bed because they were tired from their long trip from the North Pole.  One lunch box had a box of baking soda, a can of black olives, a can of marshmallow creme, and a can of tuna.  The other box had a can of salmon, a can of tomato sauce, a pack of taco seasoning and a can of frosting.  They both had a pack of Moist and Meaty dog food!  The kids thought that was "dicusting" as the little one says.  The Elf on the Shelf, that J named Chippy, moved out of his tree and was sitting in a candy dish. I haven't seen my kids jump out of bed that fast since last Christmas!!!  Pictures will be posted later.

Meet our other elves....

This year, there are several new elves that will be added to our gang of elves. Actually I don't think I've posted pics from all of our elves, so I'll start with the ones that stayed with us last year. Keep watching for new pictures because I am sure we'll be adopting new elves before too long!
Pippin - adopted 9/17/10

These 3 elves were adopted for us from Santa's Land in Cherokee NC, 9/26/2010

Jingle Bell is a huge elf that I adopted from a Truck Stop in Latta SC in September 2010.

Two brothers, Toby and Jackson. Toby, red pants, lives with us, but Jackson went to live in Clovis Ca, with my friend Denise and her son Alex.
This little elf was found on a table at the Dickens Christmas show in Myrtle Beach.
11/2/10 -- I stopped at the Christmas Mouse in Myrtle Beach. Lots of these elves were there looking for new homes.
This little cutie was in a bin at Target in December.
These little elves were sitting in Hobby Lobby and as I pushed my buggy down the aisle, I turned to look at something and they jumped in my cart!! I took them home.

This old elf was living in our attic. I'm not sure if he escaped from the family that lived there before us or what? Maybe one day we'll find out his story.

2011

2011
January -- the elves went back on December 31.  The 5 little pocket elves stayed with us. We miss the Magic Elves when they aren't around.  They did get to enjoy the fireworks with us before they left.

Our favorite site, http://www.elf-magic.com/ hosted a photo contest on their Facebook page.  It was Mrs. Claus' Photo contest 2011.  Two pictures of our elves were chosen out of 1760 photos and were in 2 different categories.

In the "We R Family", this photo won runner up with 135 votes (1st place had 142 votes) and the prize was a Magic Elf. The caption read We have so much fun when all of our elves come to visit.  Our parents love the elves as much as we do.  We LOVE Elf Magic!!!

In the "On the Go" category, this photo won 1st place with 129 votes and the prize was a 36" Giant Elf. The caption read -- Our elves, Hannah and Abby arrived with our reindeer, Cranberry!  We are so glad that they joined our family.  We have wild elves!  They love to go for a ride on the big reindeer together......he is teaching Cranberry to fly!!!

Thanks to everyone who voted to help us win!!!  And thanks to Elf Magic!!!

January 29 -- Mackenzie's Elf Party.  When we woke up this morning, there were elves all over her bed and the floor!  We had around 25 elves and all their pets!!!  The 2 giant elves arrived.  The boy is Trey and the girl is Nicole.  Mackenzie was so happy to see them!!!

All of our elves were in Mackenzie's room when she woke up on the day of her birthday party!

Mackenzie's two friends, Olivia and Madeline came to the party.  Olivia brought Jill and Joy her two elves and Madeline brought her elf Bubba.

I had her cake made from a photo I entered into the contest and made shirts for each girl.

I also made these pillowcases for Mackenzie's present.  I used iron on transfers and paint markers.  I thought they turned out cute!

More pictures from the party.

February 14 --  Valentines Day -- the elves were already here.  Mackenzie had strep throat the weekend before, so Hannah, Abby and Noah came to cheer her up.  They left some treats for Mackenzie and Jesse.  They left a ring pop and a Mickey Mouse shaped sucker for each one.

March 17 -- the elves are here to celebrate St Patricks Day!  Hannah, Abby, Noah and Kimball came.  They brought a cauldron full of Leprechaun gold and a box of Lucky Charms for the kids.  They even left GREEN milk for them!  Jesse got a pirate hat and a green bouncy ball that lights up and Mackenzie got socks and green nail polish.  Noelle and Nichole joined them for breakfast.  Noah was hiding under Jesse's hat!  They left a green bandana on Chia!

March 19 -- the elves went to Lexington with us to celebrate Sloan's birthday

April 12 -- Mackenzie is playing softball this spring for the first time.  Hannah went to see her play and was playing with Jesse's bat.
April -- Spring Break and Easter -- we found the elves in the den hiding.  Noah was riding on a firetruck, Abby was on the bookshelf and Hannah was in the crayon bucket.  They stayed for the whole week.

Mackenzie and Jesse are ready for church.

May -- Lexi went on a field trip to Huntington Beach SC with Mackenzie's class.

June 2 --School's out for the kids!!!  YEAH!!!

June 8-12 -- VACATION -- We went to Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock NC, Maggie Valley, NC; Cherokee, NC; Gatlinburg, TN and Pigeon Forge TN.  Mackenzie was a little upset that the elves didn't show up for vacation, but as we were driving, she found them all stuffed in a bag.  Sneaky little elves.

Here is Hannah at the top of Granfather Mountain.

Everybody is ready for bed -- Here we are at a cozy little inn in Blowing Rock.

July 3 --On Sunday, we were naughty, we didn't go to church, we went to the beach. The elves were hiding in the camera bag. Well, it was Hannah, Noah and Abby and they had little red, white and blue balls for the kids. They elves love the beach and Hannah has been before (remember the trip when the seagulls attacked us all and tried to take our french fries?!?!?!) This time we DID NOT TAKE ANY FRENCH FRIES!! LOL

The elves went home on Saturday night, but they left a surprise. Bailey the Lightening Bug. He needed somewhere to stay for awhile and the elves thought he could stay with us! He is adorable! Pictures will be uploaded soon!

July 28-31 -- back to the mountains!  Another quick weekend trip to Maggie Valley NC.  Hannah, Lexi, Abby, Lacey and Noah went this time.  They loved the stream behind our motel.

The elves joined us for a picnic.  We cooked hotdogs on the grill by the creek.
Sitting in the rocking chair taking it easy.

Hanging over the edge watching the kids play with boats in the creek.
We've had a little incident with one of the pocket elves!  CHIA!!!  She tore off one of Noelle's pigtails. Noelle is very upset! I'm still looking for it, but I think she may have eaten it!  Naughty Dawg!

August 12 -- Jesse's 4th birthday.  Noah, Abby and Hannah were on his pillow this morning.  They really enjoyed the birthday party and tried to get in the pool with the other kids.  Jesse is really into Thomas the Train, so most of his gifts were "Thomas".  What could be better than a pool party with lots of cousins, hotdogs with homemade chili, chips, cake and ice cream!?!?!  Yummy!! I must say though that with 7 kids 9 and under and a Chihuahua "poddler" (a puppy that is in the naughty toddler stage), the elves were slightly nervous! Especially with the "Noelles Pigtail" incident fresh in their minds!  They hid through most of the party!

Guess what!!!!!  I received a letter stating that we passed all of the necessary requirements to host MORE elves!!!  I am so excited and I know the kids will be!!! Wonder what they'll look like?!?!  can't wait!!!

Next occasion will be the first day of school, then my birthday and then my mom's! This is our party month!  Will they show up for all of these special days?  I'm on the lookout for any new elves!! I sure hope we get some new ones this year.

Well, the first day of school went smoothly and the elves were still here.  Mackenzie is now in 4th Grade with Mrs. H, a teacher she absolutely loves!!!!  Jesse is in Ms. O's class and hopefully he won't give her a hard time.  This is all new to him this year so he's going to have a hard time adjusting to 4K.

August 26-- My birthday was kind of uneventful.  The elves left a new baby elf for me for my birthday.

I don't think they showed back up until Halloween because they are so busy making toys and Christmas presents during this time of year.
Hannah was a pumpkin, Abby was a witch, Lexi was a ghost and Noah was a cowboy.

Jesse was so excited to see Noah dressed as a cowboy since he was a cowboy too.

Hasn't Chia grown alot since last Halloween?!

The elves are back at the North Pole for now but will be back around Thankgiving.

They're Back!!!!
December 1 -- the elves are back! the brought Jesse a Lego Advent calendar and they brought a tiny present for Mackenzie to open every day.  It's so good to see them again!  Can't wait to see what all kinds of mischief they will get into!  All the elves were in the living room, but Chippy was in the fiber optic tree in the den.

December 2 -- The elves packed the kids lunch boxes for them.  They packed Jesse a bag of Moist n Meaty dog food chow, a can of salmon, a can of frosting, a box of Jell-O, and a cracker with a cup of water.  For Mackenzie, they packed a jar of Jet-Puffed marshmallow crème, a can of tomato sauce, a bag of Moist n Meaty dog chow, a can of tuna and a cracker with a cup of water.  Looks very......appetizing I guess........LOL.

Chippy was hiding in the candy dish in the den.  He likes to hide but he doesn't' get into as much mischief as the others.
December 3 -- We Christmas tree is up but we didn't have time to decorate it all yet.  All the elves were hiding in the tree.  So was Chippy!

December 4-- Chippy was hiding on top of the curtains in the den, but the others were naughty!  They drew faces on the kids school pictures with dry erase markers.  (They didn't find it very funny, but I thought it was hilarious!!!)

December 5 -- The elves were hiding in the freezer because it reminds them of home.

December 6 -- What a mess this morning.  They were playing games and had out all the games that were Christmas or Halloween themes.  Some were playing Uno, some were playing Yahtzee, some were playing A Charlie Brown Christmas, and The Nightmare Before Christmas Trivial Pursuit.

December 7-- They put together all the Lego ornaments and Christmas sets and they had Christmas trees, snowmen and Santa ornaments everywhere.
December 8 -- Poor, naughty, sick elves!  They got into all the leftover Halloween candy and ate way too much!  They had tummy aches and they threw up M&Ms and they were all sick.

December 9 -- They had to rest to recover from last nights candy binge.

December 10 -- Oh my, the elves TP'd the Christmas tree!  There was lots of tissue.  Noah and Hannah were hiding together in the tree.  Hmmmm........  Chippy was hiding in the kitchen.

12/11/11 -- Tracker arrived -- Tracker is one of Santa's puppies that needed a home for the holidays.  One of his ears says "nice" and the other says "naughty".  He has a basket that he sleeps in.  His fur is so soft and fuzzy.

12/13/11 -- It took us awhile to find the elves this morning.  Each one was hiding in a different spot. They were all around the house.

Dec. 14 -- The elves left a note saying they would not do anything naughty until Mackenzie and Jesse improved their behavior.  (this could take awhile!)
Dec 15
Dec 16
Dec 17

Dec. 18 -- Finally, their behavior has improved some.  All of the reindeer showed up at our house.  Mackenzie's room was like a reindeer pen!  Reindeer were everywhere!!!

12/19 -- A new reindeer showed up.  It was called a Reindeer on the Roof.

December 20 -- I'm not sure what the other elves did, but Chippy was hiding in the presents under the tree.
Dec 21.  The elves brought some cards from Elf Magic and they were all playing cards on the table. They were snacking on marshmallows and Nerds and gum.

12/22/11 -- Camping!  There were tents and sleeping bags set up in Mackenzie's room.  They had the reindeer, their pets and Chippy there.  Looked like they were having so much fun!!

12/23/11 -- We finally got snow.  Well, not real snow outside, but some real snow from the North Pole and these really cool red and green marbles from the NP.  They were cold and smushy.

12/24/11 -- Christmas Eve -- The elves opened presents under the trees.  That was just naughty of them to open presents that didn't belong to them!
